Molly Bloom’s free-flowing final chapter in James Joyce‘s groundbreaking and (then) scandalous novel, Ulysses, was the inspiration for Kate Bush’s title song from her 1989 album, The Sensual World. At the time, though, she didn’t have permission from the Joyce estate to quote any of Molly’s inner monologue. Now she does.

Bush has rerecorded the song, renaming if “Flower of the Mountain.” The singer-songwriter-dancer told BBC News “I am delighted I have had the chance to fulfill the original concept.” The new song will appear on Director’s Cut, her first new album in six years, due out in May.

Another of Bush’s famous literary songs is “Wuthering Heights” inspired by Emily Bronte’s classic novel of the same name.
